ANDY CARROLL TO MISS CITY CLASH

Newcastle forward Andy Carroll has met a fresh low with a rib injury. The striker was aiming to make his first start of the season when Steve Bruce’s boys faced Pep Guardiola’s men during the week but sustaining an awkward injury in training means that he will be out till further notice.

The powers that be at St. James Park saw to it that the former hometown club hero signed a pay-as-you-play contract during last summer’s transfer window. Having registered only 7 substitute appearances, Andy Carroll can be said to not have received a lot of credit alerts this season.

The home clash against league giants Manchester City was set to offer him his first start. With being knocked thanks to an injury, he faces the risk of even making any meaning appearances at St. James Park for the rest of the season.

The Magpies forward has been plagued with a lot of injury incidents this season with his groin taking him out of the game against Chelsea earlier in the season. With Newcastle striking squad failing to make any impact in the club’s goal to finish well this season, the latest injury to their veteran strikers leaves Steve Bruce hoping to get a better deal in January.

Any successful January signing might see Carroll’s chance at the club diminish to the point where he does not even get to make any appearances till the end of the season. The only reason he has been making at all is how horrible the first-choice forwards had been.

The clash against City will likely end in defeat as the Citizen are more than aware that any further slip up will make Liverpool’s hand around the trophy tighter.

City have been dropping points of late while the Reds have managed to remain unbeaten thus far
