Italy U21 Coach Nicolato Sets Sights on Two Inter Milan Youngsters

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has been able to make a decent impression in the Italian Serie A in the season. The 20-year-old defender has been learning a lot from playing under Antonio Conte, who is regarded as one of the best coaches. Crucially, this time will be important for the player, who is regarded in high esteem by Italy’s under 21 coach Paolo Nicolato. Apart from contributing heavily for the Italian youth teams, Bastoni is earmarked as a player with a lot of potential. He has not made his debut for the senior team, but he is expected to have a key role when the under 21 team takes on Iceland and Armenia in qualifying games.

Italy’s U21 team has gone five games without a defeat.Nicolato admitted that the games against Iceland and Armenia will not be easy due to the different playing nature of the two teams. Iceland, especially, will be difficult to handle with the physical approach. Meanwhile, Italian’s youth setup has grown with players likeBastoni getting a lot of game time. Another player who could feature for the team shortly is Sebastiano Esposito, who has made seven appearances for the club in all competitions. Even though game time is limited at the top club like Inter Milan, these players are profiting from training with the best names in the business.

“Two tough games are waiting for us, against teams who are doing well, but I’m also confident because we have a whole week ahead of us and we can prepare to the fullest, something that hardly happens for us. I expect a physical match against Iceland, due to the size of the opponents. However, we will also face a team in good form, given that their domestic season is nearly over. My team has also grown, with some guys starting to play more in the league,” said Nicolato.
