PEREIRA BECOMES THE LATEST FLOP IN MANCHESTER UNITED

When Federico Macheda rounded Aston Villa’s defense to slot in an injury time winner on his debut for Manchester United, everyone thought the new Cristiano Ronaldo was a possibility.

Since whizzing out of the game, other pretenders have graced and are still pandering around the club almost every season.

During David Moyes’ trial period, Adan Januzaj started dragging the Red Devils almost single handedly out of trials and tribulations.

The latest disappointment at Old Trafford is none other than Andreas Pereira. The injury of Paul Pogba finally gave the Brazilian to make a case for first team football. The latest wimpy displays by the number 15 has made everyone who thought he would amount to something begin to question their judgement more closely.

Haven played in a deeper role and flopped, current coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has deployed the Brazilian in a number 10 and he has managed to flop even more.

The encounter again Sheffield brought out the worst in him. The first half made United look as inferior as an u-17 side battling the world cup defending champions.

Creativity was nowhere to be seen and other than Fred, no midfielder could break the line of Sheffield.

The game against Astana also brought out the worst in the Brazilian and confirmed that even when playing against a team made up of nobodies, he was no-where near to delivering the potential everyone who watched him as a youth swore he was capable of.

Just like Jesse Lingard who would soon turn 27 after United fans spent years patting him in the back, telling him he was an upcoming superstar, Pereira will soon reach that age where everyone will acknowledge that even Federico Macheda was better than him.

At least the Italian’s goal made sure United won the league that year. Not the same can be said of Pereira.
