when Sarri took over at Chelsea

Glen Hoddle doesn’t think that Maurizio Sarri has been tactically right in terms of how he has gone about using Eden Hazard in the ongoing season. In most of the games that Hazard has played this season, he has been the central forward of the Blues which Hoddle reckons is not the ideal position for him if Chelsea wants to get the best out of him.

According to Hoddle, it’s not rocket science to understand that you don’t put your most skilled player directly in the firing line where the opposition defensive line can deal with him easily. You have to put him in a position where you can get his maximum productivity and that can happen only when Hazard is in a slightly wider position and not in the central position.

Hoddle, who had been in charge of Chelsea from 1993 to 1996, talked about Gonzalo Higuain as well and said that Higuain’s agility is not there for some reason. He has got a lot of talent, but he doesn’t seem to be as fast as he was when he was playing in the previous season and that’s probably because there has been a little bit of increment in his weight and he is not in his best shape at the moment.

Higuain is at Stamford Bridge on loan and the reason why Chelsea went for that loan deal was because the French striker had a great time playing under Sarri at Milan and when Sarri took over at Chelsea, he managed to convince the Blues hierarchy to get Higuain on loan. That move however has not paid dividends so far and the reports suggest that Chelsea isn’t interested in stretching the stint of the 31-year old and is likely to send him back to his parent club.
